D B Smith Band
|
The DB Smith Band serve up a heady gumbo of blues, rock & roll and country music, spiced with hot southern influences. Great music to drink your beer to, and if your foot is not tapping it’s too late to see the doctor! About half of the set is original material, and the other can range anywhere from Ray Charles to Jimi Hendrix (or even audience requests), so there should be something for everybody!
DB Smith has been a studio musician and guitar side-man for way too many years to count, working with diverse acts ranging from American Eric to Don Fardon, and all points in between. As a singer and songwriter in his own right he toured the UK and European blues circuit for 30 odd years – dues duly paid! The powerhouse Pete Tyler on bass is another road warrior, having served time with numerous bands most recently with The Terraplanes, and he can often be seen depping with James Oliver when he gets the night off. Eric Karvik, the baby of the band, is a ferociously talented drummer who seems unbreakable; we keep on trying but he keeps on coming out swinging! With a backbeat straight out of Memphis and a swing straight out of New Orleans he is a force to be reckoned with. All you can do is “Git Yer Swang On!” (Our best heckle ever, still love it!) |

Buckthorne
|
Over the past couple of years, Buckthorne has been a regular contributor to Alma open mic evenings (3rd Monday of each month) . He has so impressed us with his original compositions and unique take on covers that we just had to persuade him to perform to a wider audience at this year's Summer Sessions.
Buckthorne is not only an excellent musician, he's also a talented artist and web designer - check out his website below or click on the image. More info... |
